NFL Picks Week One sponsored by Studio Yukupo

The official resumption of our annual picks begins here and now! After his victory by two games last year, I'm out for revenge. Already 5 up in NCAA picks, it continues here! As ever, the lines are based on those the Sports Guy uses for his picks, although I might find a different source because his new site Grantland is a little tough to follow, the layout is not intuitive and the tone is rather pretentious. We both picked the Packers on Thursday night due in no small part to the fact that the Super Bowl champs have won that first game of the season eleven straight times, and it came through, Hopefully, it's an auspicious start.

Week One picks after the jump!

Chris picks: Ravens, Bears, Lions, Chiefs, Titans, Colts, Bengals, Eagles, Giants, Panthers, Seahawks, Vikings, Cowboys, Patriots, Broncos
I pick: Steelers, Bears, Buccaneers, Bills, Jaguars, Colts, Bengals, Eagles, Redskins, Panthers, Seahawks, Chargers, Cowboys, Dolphins, Raiders

As I talked about in my predictions column, I have zero faith in the Ravens to beat the Steelers. Similar to my non-pick of the Texans, I have to see it to believe it. Many of my picks are based on judgements made in my predictions, but there are some exceptions. Picking the Panthers is a vote of no confidence in the Cardinals rather than a vote for Carolina. The Jaguars is a gut call, of course four years ago, Jacksonville released its starting QB on the eve of the season and proceeded to get pummelled the following weekend by the Titans. I could very easily see history repeating itself and my pick going all to hell. Another pick I could see turning out horribly is the Patriots. It's almost as though I have been goaded into picking against them with all the hate levelled at Miami.

The story so far
Chris: 1-0
Me: 1-0
